Golden Groove Barbie Gift-Set #1593 Rare Sears Exclusive-1969, VHTF-Near mint
Vintage Barbie, In Rare Sears Exclusive Gift-Set "Golden Groove" #1593 from 1969. The outfit is very hard to find in near mint condition like this one.
The TNT Platinum Blonde Barbie is also the harder to find doll with the rare pink skin and vibrant makeup. She is stunning and all intact except for a very tiny tear that started under her foot that I have sealed with Bondic to prevent further tearing. It's the only flaw I can see in this whole set. Her joints are tight, no green spots or discoloration. She had gorgeous full hair - refer to picture #22 where I took off the rubber band and showed her full hair. This came about because all the talker Barbies were so problematic. Children and mothers were complaining to Mattel that the dolls were poorly made and their bodies easily fell apart.
Mattel realized their were many manufacturing flaws in the design and construction. So needless to say the talker Barbies had a very short production run. A reason why they are also hard to find in good condition. They were replaced with the TNT bodies that were more durable.
I know these facts are true because my Aunt worked at Mattel for over 30 years, and I still have family that work at Mattel. Refer to Pic # 9. The bright Pink and gold outfit has all of its gold chains and buttons and no rips or damage. And the long gold hip boots really look awesome and are in good condition. Very representative of the 1968-69 time period when we all wore mini skirts and boots and sang along with Nancy Sinatra, These Boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do.
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you. All the old timer's like me remember?? Please examine all photos and ask any questions before purchasing.
