Offered from a private collection for another generation to admire and appreciate: a treasured set of the original 1893 Columbian Commemorative mint stamps. These are America's First Commemoratives.
This extraordinary set of 126+ year old commemorative mint stamps has been preserved in a special hingeless SAFE Album for many years. Several of the lower - mid denomination stamps have slight hinge marks, but most of the higher denominations do not. (#245 appears to have been lightly hinged, 6c & 8c have thin spots) The set is in very nice condition and all are gummed. Various lighting was used to better highlight condition of gum. Scarce stamps such as these in this condition are seldom offered for sale, and are becoming much harder to obtain.
Please judge the stamps condition yourself based on the many pictures provided below. It should be evident that these are some of the nicest examples of early U. As the years pass by, most of these rare and highly sought after Columbian stamps in this choice condition are being tucked away in serious philatelist's collections. They would not only make a wise investment, but a very desirable and historical set to be passed on from generation to generation.
